“NUTS” stands for “Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics.” Through National Developing Centres, a “NUTS analysis” has been conducted in each country, consulting with local experts, farmers, and educators to understand the unique challenges and opportunities for multifunctionality in each region.
The Multifunctionality Consultant in Agriculture supports farms in diversifying their activities to enhance sustainability and resilience. The Consultant helps farmers adapt to changing markets and environmental demands, by advising on organic and certified production, promoting services like agritourism and carbon sequestration, and guiding marketing and funding strategies. Their expertise in building innovative business models ensures stronger economic performance and long-term viability for rural enterprises.

(a) Multifunctionality Self-Assessment Tool
The Self-Assessment tool is designed for individuals and organizations seeking to evaluate the level of multifunctionality (MF) within their farming practices or educational programs. Using targeted questionnaires, the tool calculates the current degree of MF and provides automated, personalized recommendations, which aim to support the development of specific skills and activities related to multifunctionality. Where applicable, the tool also directs users to relevant MOOC lessons to help address identified areas for improvement.

The interactive map offers a regional perspective on agricultural multifunctionality across various areas defined by the European classification system. Developed through collaboration with experts and stakeholders, it includes tailored guidelines, success stories, and best practices that reflect the specific characteristics of each territory. This evolving tool supports farmers and educators by providing localized insights to guide diversification strategies, training needs, and future development opportunities.

The MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) offers flexible, online training designed around the skills identified for the emerging role of the Multifunctionality Technician. Structured into four comprehensive modules, the course allows users to follow the full program or select individual modules or units. Developed collaboratively by expert partners, the MOOC includes study materials, videos, and practical exercises, and always remains accessible. Each module features 200 hours of content and 50 hours of project-based and hands-on activities, supporting both independent learning and real-world application

Guide “How to: Multifunctionality in Agriculture”
This practical guide brings together insights, tools, and recommendations developed through workshops and collaboration with policymakers, educators, and SMEs. Divided into two sections, it offers clear instructions for end-users on how to navigate and apply the Multifunctionality Platform, and guidance for contributors on how to support its ongoing development. The guide also includes a methodology for conducting regional analyses, making it a valuable resource for promoting multifunctionality across diverse agricultural contexts.
