The Project

My Farm addresses the pressing issues of food security, climate change, and sustainability, which are increasingly influencing individual consumption and business decisions, as well as shaping policies and societal norms. As a result, the Agrifood sector is attracting a growing number of entrepreneurs and technology experts. This shift is driven by the fundamental transformation of agriculture through digitalization and the use of new technologies.

My Farm embraces the concept of multifunctionality, which posits that agriculture extends beyond food production to encompass broader social roles. These roles include maintaining production potentials, encouraging rural development, preserving landscapes, and protecting the environment. This approach highlights the symbiotic relationship between agricultural holdings and their local communities. From this perspective, multifunctionality is seen as a proactive development tool that promotes a sustainable economy, creates opportunities for additional income, and generates employment in agriculture.

Developing multifunctionality at the agricultural unit level can significantly enhance the prospects for survival, fostering economic diversification within the local community. This contributes to the creation of a new agricultural sector that meets societal needs and expectations, redefining and reshaping rural resources both within and beyond the agricultural economy.

My Farm also recognizes the emergence of new technologies with the potential to revolutionize agrifood and agriculture practices. The project underscores the importance of higher education, vocational education, and training in preparing future generations to tackle upcoming challenges. This preparation is crucial for raising the attractiveness of a sector that continues to struggle with a lack of generational turnover.
